Schools shouldn't send entire year groups home if only one pupil has tested positive for the coronavirus, an expert has saidChildren's Commissioner Anne Longfield warned schools could be thrown into 'chaos' over sending pupils home due to Covid casesIn a letter being sent to MPs she said that just one pupil testing positive for the virus can send a school into “chaos”, with an entire year group being told to remain at home.
“There has been chaos in some schools, with some sending entire year groups home for a fortnight because a single pupil tests positive for Covid, something that is actually against government guidance and should stop.” Figures from the Department of Education this week showed that 46 per cent of secondary school pupils and 16 per cent of primary schools pupils were sent home because of Covid-related issues.Children's Commissioner Anne Longfield
She said schools should stay open “no matter what”, adding: “Children’s education should not be sacrificed on the altar of Covid.”
I agree, my daughter gone back today after self isolating for 2 weeks because 1 person tested positive in her year whole year group, they'll never be in school if they send them home every time one person tests positive for covid.
But then how will they get more time off?
Hey! Can anyone find me one single teacher that made the decision to send anyone home? Just one will do.
Hooray for common sense, lets hope all schools do the same.
