The union wants the exact number of school staff who have tested positive since September to be published with a breakdown by job and school type.

The primary teachers' union INTO has called for the publication of a detailed breakdown of the incidence of Covid-19 in schools amid what it said is increasing concern that public health measures to protect teachers are inadequate.

The union has also asked for a clear explanation of the difference between a close contact and casual contact in a school setting. "This has resulted in principal teachers regularly having to initiate out of hours contact with families and staff members when they have been notified of positive tests," he said.

It said the desire of teachers to keep schools open must be met with a firm commitment to keep schools safe.

Lots of hiding behind GDPR. These facts should be published. Also all schools when confirming a case, should say what class it is in, how many close contacts isolating from school, when child last in school. The more info people given the better to help us beat this virus.

I frankly dont blame them. But i would hope that teachers in general will now step up and become much needed front line workers because effectively thats what the government have made them now. Please god they help us out

Reasonable

Haven't seen this sort of whining from the medics. Nurses nurse, teachers teach. Get over it INTO. Proper personal behaviour and strong protection protocols will deliver a teaching environment with acceptable risk levels.
