The Ivy League university will pay $925,000 in back pay and at least $250,000 in future wages, as part of an agreementThe agreement resolves pay disparities uncovered by a multi-year investigation that affected more than 100 female full professors, the Labor Department's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs said.
Princeton did not admit any liability in the investigation, Ben Chang, a spokesperson from Princeton, said in an emailed statement. He said that university officials did an internal analysis during the two year period the Labor Department says it was in violation, but found"no meaningful pay disparities based on gender."

Why is knowing a salary such a big deal? I mean don’t be nosey & ask people how much they make. It should be posted at HR for each position with an extra colum for $x-$y for pay increases by year/tenure, since each person gets a different raise if there’s no step increment pay

I’m about 2 do the same. I recently learned, in 2009 when I was hired among 8 whites, I was the ONLY one hired with a PhD & tenure-track experience. The other 8 had only had master’s degrees, I received no teaching credits & was laid the LEAST among whites w/no doctorate. 😡

I am thinking that the only way equalization occurs is to take that admittance of wrongdoing option out of the equation. Anything less just opens the door for a repeat (until we get caught) attitude.
