Up to 100 people are said to have attended the gathering hosted by students from the University of East Anglia at a residential house on Bowthorpe Road in Norwich.
Students there were meant to be self-isolating after some reported developing symptoms, the BBC reported. It comes after police fined 32 students from the University of Essex for breaching the Government’s ‘rule of six’ Covid-19 regulations. Essex Police stepped up patrols in Colchester at the weekend to target those persistently flouting the law.On Friday night, officers found a group of seven people congregating in a car park at the university and issued each of them with £200 fixed penalty notices. Both of the parties had eight people inside and all 16 students were issued with fines. They found nine students from different accommodation who were congregating in a courtyard and they were also issued with fixed penalty notices.
It will never get paid. 😴
That’s how it works in Austria. You break the rule, you pay 💰. Result: you don’t break the rule. Issue: the UK is not like Austria. Result: article in the newspaper, angry tweets, new party 🥳 next week
Haha! Are the rest of us paying that off too?
They’ll end up with CCJ’s for failure to pay but sadly it will land on those living in the house not those attending.
Add it onto the student loan
Quite right. Fed up of people having parties. This is why it's spreading. Can't afford the £10k fine? Don't have a party? Not hard. Some people have had to have babies etc. in hospital alone due to COVID - you're no different. Abide by the rules.
No chance of collecting those !
WTAF what student can afford £10,000
What a joke!Bunch of cowards in fining students the full amount, but MargaretFerrier was given a portion of that fine for being a SuperSpreader

How are they going to pay? break the law again.
Right where’s BorisJohnson Dads fine for skipping the county and NOT wearing his mask oh and all the other MPs that think they’re elite dontfineatudents your the one who has locked them up!! What are the supposed to do your not providing food or help with their mental health
Pity they didn’t fine the government who are breaking the law all the time. But Covid makes you do things you’re not supposed too 🙄
'students'.....
Good luck with collecting these fines! The size of the fines is impressive and headline grabbing but in reality authorities have no hope of collecting them. Better deterrent would be prison!
were the people fined for the demonstrations in London at the weekend..
Good luck getting that fine paid. It'll probably be binned
So they will pay it off £5 a month? 🙄
AshaSin24116510 They wont get that just like there Student fee that will gave funded the pissup
I hope no one will waste their time looking for a follow up story to this, because the fines won't stick. Any lawyer worth their salt, could tear down these fines in a courtroom. There's so much shaky ground around these laws that no one will be forced to pay these fines.
Deserved
Where will they get monies for the fine
Will it work as a deterrant though?
Pathetic
And where is students Supposed to get 10k?
Don't worry, their mates will help them and chip in right? Have fun.
Wow
Did Dominic Cummings decide the amount of fines 😷
