Sky News contributor Campbell Newman says what was observed at the University of Queensland on Monday were "terrible sights" after the prime minister's car was pelted with vegetables and paint.

The prime minister has been touring Queensland over the last few days promoting his government’s budget, while he also visited the University of Queensland on Monday in support of its efforts in trying to find a COVID-19 vaccine. During the visit, the prime minister’s car was targeted and defiled with red paint by protesters admonishing the government’s refugee record. Mr Newman said it was "disgraceful".
