A truck has crushed seven persons to death around Gbatse community in Ushongo Council of Benue State.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred when a trailer, whose driver was trying to evade a police check, ran into a stationary Toyota Camry car and crushed the seven occupants. The Chairman of Ushongo Council, Asawa Joseph, was said to have cut short his engagement in Makurdi, rushed to the scene and directed that bodies of the victims be deposited at Ostra Gum’s hospital at Ushongo.
Truck has killed more Nigerians than boko haram in the past 10 years. There's need to give them a different lane. With that said it's also necessary for FG to scrap all these police checkpoints that does nothing but extort money from drivers. May their gentle souls rest in peace.
It is clear that this accident occurred as a result of human error which could have been avoided. The driver of the trailer should be held responsible
