Refugee protesters have thrown red paint over Prime Minister Scott Morrison's car and blockaded a University of Queensland building while Mr Morrison was inside at a media event at the Brisbane university's vaccine labs.
A handful of activists carrying banners earlier splashed red paint over the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology Building at the university and circled the building, chanting "free the refugees" and "eight years too long".Refugee Solidarity Meanjin, which has been running a campaign outside a Kangaroo Point hotel where 120 refugees have been held under medevac laws for months, gatecrashed the media opportunity and blockaded the doorways.
