Roadschooling, anyone? Parents with kids on full-time distance learning are breaking out of the house on extended family vacations around the world.

This photo shows the Brown family of Atlanta, from left, Jayde Brown, Jay’Elle Brown, Jayson R. Brown, Tammy Brown and Jayson E. Brown at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Dec. 27, 2019. Parents Tammy and Jayson have been taking their kids on educational trips for five years and are among families heading out with remote-learning kids during the new school year rather than leaving them stuck at home. .

“I ended up skipping like half of my classes,” Addison smiled. “It was nice. It was like a new start.”One of the places the family stayed, the luxury Montage Deer Valley mountain resort, now offers “Montage Academy” for distance learners, complete with an all-day monitored “study hall” and access to virtual tutors. Other hotels are offering on-site tutors and tickets for “field trips” at area attractions.

For Jayson and Tammy Brown, schoolcations for their three kids have been both ongoing and life-affirming over the past five years. The parents and 11-year-old Jayde, 13-year-old Jay’Elle and 14-year-old Jayson are used to traveling the world with school topics in mind, but the pandemic has them avoiding planes.

The Browns have taken a few road trips within driving distance of home in Atlanta since March, and have more planned. Tammy, a special education teacher, is handling her students remotely. She and her husband make sure their kids log on to school when attendance is required.“I find it much more fun than school, being able to experience firsthand what I’m actually learning in class,” Jay’Elle said. The siblings are writing a book about their travels.

The extras add between $225 and $250 to the room rate, which varies depending on the date and room type. They’ll be staying in a small cabin close to the beach that they rented at a lower, off-season price. They’re packing in their food and will bypass the usual tourist attractions.

technology for the people

Most Americans do not have that kind of money. Especially NOW!

Yep as long as there is WiFi you can connect to school

Great, :( spread the virus because you have the funds to vacation and you have to home school uggh - with decisions like this we will never end this virus

Oh I'm sorry I thought we were controlling the spread. Who's 'roadschooling'? Folks taking the extra $600 a week that my taxes will be paying for decades? This article really pissed me off. OPEN OUR SCHOOLS!

I'm surprised according to the race-baiting Media these black people should be flat broke. Not traveling the World.

Aren't Americans banned from most countries because our idiot president cares more about appearances than facts.

Around the world? Americans are allowed in what? Two countries? With lengthy quarantine?

Pop quiz: define 'pandemic'

If YOU can afford it - Sounds Freaking AWESOME!

Lol, no.

I wonder why covid is spiking again, hmmm

Isn’t there a pandemic, isn’t that why we are staying home? Doesn’t travel spread disease from one area to another?

Homeschoolers have taken school on the road for years. If there is one good thing that could come from these lockdowns, it's that the public school monopoly may finally be broken and parents can get a taste of the possibilities of school choice Let the money follow the child

Ok. Most of us have to stay home and work not be on the road tho.

DONALD TRUMP YOUR VOTERS AND FALSE PROPHETS ARE NOT CHRISTIAN ! CHRISTIANS DO NOT SUPPORT ANGER AND DEATH TO THE BROTHER OF ANY ETHNIES, WHETHER BY COLOR,OR SOCIAL POSITION,I SAID:YOU WILL LOVE YOUR LORD GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR LIKE YOURSELF.I AM MESSIAH
