It has been a while since we have heard from Prof Neil Ferguson. It was, famously, his advice that led to the first lockdown – which he claimed, at the time, would limit deaths to about 20,000. This was, alas, not the case: lockdown succeeded in crushing the economy but did not stop Britain from ending with one of the world’s highest death rates. Now, history seems to be repeating itself with cases again rising fast.
thetimes piersmorgan Those claim that Sweden plan work is debatable, as World Health Org stated Sweden suffered more covid deaths/per mil population than other nations in region that adopted tighter controls. USA 597.07 per mil Brazil 634.81 Sweden 580.64 Norway 49.07
Nonsense. You seem to forget our population is double that of sweden. You cant compare countries accurately when both have big differences in pooulation. Misleading rubbish
Why? They economy is worse than many countries that locked down
FraserNelson This is speculation and not science. You have no idea of the initial infection rate of any country. So even Swedens high per capita death rate is not useful. They could have had a relatively low initial infection rate, putting their already high death rate in a much worse light.
FraserNelson Sweden got it right.
FraserNelson And sweden had a far smaller population. And comparing countries is not accurate. So anything you say is meaningless
