Making buildings Covid-secure and providing catch-up support for students can present a financial challenge to schools How much could it cost and is government funding reaching the right places?

More schools across the UK have started to open fully for the first time since March.

This is because a larger number of students are returning in September, which means more staff and cleaning are required. Secondary schools could spend £720,000 per school - or 12% of an average local authority secondary school budgetdepending on the size of the school for the period of March to July.

In Wales and Scotland, at least £20m has been put aside in each country to help schools cover cleaning costs.

What a pathetic country this now is. The lunatics, or at least the hypochondriacs have literally taken over the asylum. The only long-term option for anybody with the means is to leave ASAP.
