Principals and other members of staff of the Livingstone College, Ikorodu, Lagos State, have protested against the alleged refusal of the school’s Chairman, Olushola Kolawole-Christwealth, to pay thei

r salaries for five months.

He said, “I am the English coordinator for all the 23 annexes of the school, so, when the Federal Government ordered the SS3 students to commence external examination, some selected members of staff were called for a meeting and our thinking was that it was a management meeting, but it turned out to be that we were told to prepare students for the external exam.

“We started arguing and Emaye called the chairman and he came to tell us the same old story that he would soon pay since students were resuming gradually, but we also disagreed with him. “We wrote a letter to the DPO of Ipakodo Police Division before embarking on this peaceful protest, but the DPO later sent for us and said our chairman visited the station to request three policemen on the complaint that some of his workers were causing problems in his school because he could not pay them during the lockdown.

Another protester, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the protesters also visited the Ikorodu Local Government Area secretariat, and the Ikorodu oba’s palace.
