Covid transmission risk assessment study in a concert setting at an indoor arena during the coronavirus pandemic on August 22, 2020 in Leipzig, Germany., was staged in Leipzig, Germany for about 2,000 volunteers and featured German pop star Tim Bendzko. Each volunteer was tested for the coronavirus 48 hours before the concert, and was given a face mask, fluorescent hand sanitizer and an electronic “contact tracer” that would gather data about contact rates and distances between fellow music lovers during the show.
Scientists from the University of Halles will study the number of “critical contacts” via the contact tracers, and identify frequently touched surfaces with traces left behind by the fluorescent hand gel. The experiment was in preparation for the upcoming winter months when authorities expect a spike in indoor events."There is no zero risk if you want to have life. This is really interesting. They mentioned that needs would be different for events with drinking, but it would have been interesting data if they’d done a fourth show with that as a condition.
