US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has seconded the Democratic presidential nomination of Senator Bernie Sanders, highlighting his commitment to solving the “crises of mass eviction, unemployment and lack of healthcare." Ms Ocasio-Cortez seconded the nomination of Senator Bernie Sanders at the Democratic Convention in a symbolic gesture to progressive politics prior to the official endorsement of Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee.

She spoke of the progressive movement which Senator Sanders represents, saying “to establish 21st century social, economic and human rights including guaranteed healthcare, higher education, living wages and labor rights for all people in the United States.
