A primary school built in in Jol community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State by the Federal Government, has been rejected by the residents.

It was gathered that the school, named after a Fulani leader, Ardo Mamuda, was constructed through the Sustainable Development Goals programme of the Federal Government in an area renamed Mahanga by Fulani herdsmen in Rankum village.

In a petition signed by the Chairman of Jol Development Association, Mr Joshua Bashash; and 36 others and addressed to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, through the office of his Senior Special Assistant on SDGs, the Berom community rejected the construction of the school with a Fulani name and accused the Federal Government of legitimising the forceful takeover of their ancestral land by the herders.
