A 17-year-old boy who murdered a teaching assistant has been given a life sentence and ordered to serve a minimum of 16 years in custody.Rocky Marciano Price, of Whinney Hill Road, Accrington, attacked mum-of-two Lindsay Birbeck as she went for a walk in the woodland.On Wednesday, Price was found unanimously guilty at Preston Crown Court of her murder, exactly a year on from when she disappeared.
Lindsay’s body was discovered wrapped in two plastic bags on August 24 last year – 12 days after she went missing, which prompted a huge search by police and members of the community. The jury at his murder trial at Preston Crown Court heard he had no previous convictions or cautions and had lived all his life with his parents and five siblings at their home off Whinney Hill Road, near the cemetery.
