Boris Johnson has said ‘keeping our schools closed a moment longer than absolutely necessary is socially intolerable, economically unsustainable and morally indefensible.’

, he said there were also ‘spiralling economic costs’ of parents and carers unable to work with their children not in school.

This weekend a Downing Street source also echoed Johnson’s words and said schools would only close as a last resort if a second lockdown occurs. At present, government guidance states that pupils will not have to wear masks while at school, and social distancing rules will not be as strict as they were during the earlier months of lockdown.Earlier this month Children’s commissioner for England Anne Longfield criticised the government for treating children ‘as an afterthought’ during the Covid-19 crisis, and said the reopening of schools ‘should be prioritised’ in the event of a second peak.

It’s not about moral duty! It’s about if it’s safe for all to do so!

Are all his kids going to school?

Are all the children of Conservative MPs confirmed as going back to school in September? Have all private schools confirmed that they will all be opening in September for full in-person learning?

Imagine. A teenager is forced to go back to school and catches the coronavirus. She goes home and infects parents or grandparents. One of them dies or suffers severe complications. Imagine. How will that child live with that feeling of guilt. Forever.

Nyet, comrade, nyet.

It's a shame that Boris Johnson and moral duty don't see eye to eye tbh

its all about money and not about the safety of the people

Very true

Moral duty to get all children back to school - PMBoris Johnson wants schools in England to be the last sector to close in any future local lockdowns. But Trump’s the bad guy when he wants the same thing? Not that I agree. I’ll gladly have tax dollars go to parents to home school. Boris Johnson ' would close pubs before schools ' in local Covid -19 lockdown. Agreed, but Boris talking about morality is hilarious 😂
