B.C. father threatens lawsuit over province's 'ridiculous' back-to-school plan

WHITE ROCK, B.C. -- Ten-year-old Max Trest has asthma, so he didn’t return to his Grade 5 classroom when part time in-person learning resumed in June.He was looking forward to starting Grade 6 in the gifted program at Crescent Park Elementary School in White Rock in September, so and he and his dad looked for details of how students can return safely in the province’s back to school plan that was announced Wednesday.

Most high school students would also return full time with cohorts of up to 120, and would have no mask mandate. “I would feel safe coming back to my classroom if all of my students and myself wore masks,” said Rockridge Secondary School history teacher Jessica Selzer, who lives with a relative who’s immuno-compromised. “I’m very concerned that its going to be a full return. Ontario’s plan, I feel like, is safer.”“What would make me happy in this moment is to follow Ontario’s model,” he said. “Mask mandate for 4 to 12 or something along those lines.

What is a male Karen called?

It's nice that he thinks the ON plan is better, although, I'm not convinced that it will be that much safer.

Chain link fence!?

this will go nowhere.. parents have right to keep kids home

Why doesn't he just leave his kids at home, or is he afraid they'll be just as STUPID as he is.👍👍👍

He doesn’t have to send his kids back. That’s his option. But hey, if he can get some money out of a lawsuit, that’s all that’s really important. Right?

He doesnt have to send his kid to school. He can carry on like the last six months or so

Buddy the Ontario plan isn’t for the students it’s for the teachers and there union! Already adding a 3 billion price tag to the new system. Was thinking since they have half the students going part time in high schools are the teachers taking a 50% pay reduction?

There is zero shock this guy is from White Rock LOL

He is suffering from severe ptsd.. His actions are emotional based..

Whatever... you have choices Poindexter.

🚁

Then keep your kids home and home school. Doesn't he understand he has the choice

Really horrible that the government is forcing him to send his kid to school. Oh wait, just read it. Turns out he has the choice to send his kid or not. He just expects everyone to do what he wants. Get it now.

What? Are you kidding ?

You can't launch a lawsuit on something that you have no proof it didn't work 🤔🙄

If you don't like the plan, homeschool. Easy peasy.

If he is so worried, he should home school his kids.

Wait until they realize Ontario’s plan is severely flawed.

'I'm going to sue because I can't get my way'... I fkn hate people like him.

Living in fear is not living

Homeschool

Why are you giving this nutty man the time of day. Who wears a mask in his own kitchen?

Parents have the freedom of choice. Make a choice and stop complaining that everyone else is doing it wrong.

As a fellow concerned parent. Even Ontario’s plans worries me. It’s like what’s right & safe? Kids needs to learn. But how safe is it going to be? Not just for the students, teachers & all their staff members.

Sewer! 😎🖕🖕

You have a choice to homeschool and that's what the court will tell him.

I guess Trest knows best, for all of us!, I get the fear, I am asthmatic but if as a result of that I need to avoid a certain activity, it does not give me the right to try to withhold that activity from everyone else, that’s just arrogance on my part.

And people thought Ontario’s plan wasn’t good. Makes B.C’s look like a finger painting. Safety should be first, masks are proven to limit spread of droplets etc. Mask the kids and physical distance, keep classes as small as possible and return them to school.

Your wasting your money dad.

Then homeschool putz.

Sure thing buddy

homeschool

I will just throw this in for good measure,

Masks don’t work, they are just a piece of cloth that makes people feel like they are doing something. Let the kids go to school as normally as possible.

Wearing the mask in his house. Someone get this guy a tinfoil hat

If you’re at risk do what you have to do. The rest of us are good. Death rate now lower than the flu.

Karen

Keep your kid home if you're scared.

Tap

Don't like the school system, home school your child.. your child will probably do better and thank you for it.

Kids should go back to school or you are going to have more problems in time that you won’t handle and still look to assistance

Typical marxist garbage. From the article, 'B.C.’s plan calls for elementary school students return to the classroom full time in cohorts of 60, with no physical distancing requirement and no masks'.

In a country of 37,000,000 people, 1 person under 19 has died of COVID-19. How much safer could it possibly be?

Asthma isn't ranking very high in the pre-conditions likely to increase covid risks, especially for the young.

Oh my, he started a Facebook group? That's how you know it's official and to watch out! Modern day equivalent of PTA meetings.
