SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state government is looking to provide a million reusable face masks to school children in the state next month.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the matter was decided during the state council meeting to help lighten the financial burden of parents.

"We will try to give out the masks to all students, but priority will be given to those from the B40 group," he said, adding that face masks have been recommended by the World Health Organization for reducing Covid-19 infection risk by 60%. Separately, Amirudin said he would meet with local authorities to get their action plan regarding the compulsory use of face masks by Aug 1.
