A Memorandum of Agreement was signed by TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña and SMFI Executive Director Deborah Pe Sy last month strengthening their partnership and ensuring a smooth implementation of the project dubbed as “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers Training Program”.
The project will also link ordinary farmers with large-scale farmers to create a knowledge sharing network on agribusinesses and will serve as a platform for showcasing and marketing farmers’ products to attract potential markets. “Our farmers are dependent on middlemen who buy their products for a very cheap price while these middlemen sell double or triple the price. Now, we will teach our farmers the technology and the new ways to upgrade their products and link them directly to bigger markets,” Lapeña explained.
