GEORGE TOWN: A college student and her boyfriend have been remanded for six days to assist in the investigation into the death of a newborn after the baby was thrown out from an apartment unit.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the 18-year-old girl is still being detained at Penang Hospital for further treatment and counselling sessions.

"So far, she is in a healthy condition and according to the doctor, she is expected to be discharged on Monday evening," he said.On Friday , a newborn baby girl died after she was allegedly tossed out by her mother from a 13th floor apartment unit in Bandar Baru Ayer Itam. A resident had lodged a police report after being told that the body of a newborn girl was found on the road near the apartment's parking area.Article type: metered
