Education Secretary Leonor Briones has ordered a review of a Department of Education (DepEd) order mandating private schools to comply with its readiness assessment checklist for learning delivery modalities in the Learning Continuity Plan before they can operate this coming School Year (SY) 2020-2021.

DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Diosdado San Antonio said Briones issued the directive in response for the clamor of a group of private schools to temporarily suspend implementation of the readiness assessment checklist requirement. However, the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations maintained that the said Order should be suspended while being reviewed.

“The review is internal to DepEd, it does not have any bearing on those affected by the Order,” COCOPEA Managing Director Joseph Noel Estrada told the Manila Bulletin. “Unless the implementation is suspended, a review alone may not be the proper action at this point,” he added.
