The Y says that during the lockdowns it cared for up to 40,000 children between the ages of 1 and 14 at 1,100 separate sites, often in partnership with local and state governments. And in New York City, the pandemic's national epicenter in March and April, the city's Department of Education reports that it cared for more than 10,000 children at 170 sites.

Corral, in Arizona, says she knows of one case in which a staff member, who didn't work directly with children, tested positive, and another case in which a parent called in and volunteered to self-quarantine after an exposure.

mradamscott If the daycare I send my sons to didn’t stay open I don’t know what I would do. I know the thought of a single dad possibly losing his job to stay with his kids is probably hilarious to some folks out there though.
mradamscott Can you find out how and if there are places that are able to care for children with moderate to profound exceptionalities (disabilities). I’m nervous for what the special education classroom will look like in the fall and if people in charge will even consider their needs. 😕
