He is planning an online petition to present to Alberta Education in hopes of getting more Black history taught in schools. It would be based on the teaching of Indigenous history and cover the historical, social, economic and political impact of racism. Alberta Education spokesman Colin Aitchison said the province's current curriculum for kindergarten to Grade 12 addresses race and racism by teaching students to value and respect diversity and support equality.
"I don't think many people are well educated, or educated at all, about what we had to go through and what we still have to go through." Yasin Kiraga, executive and artistic director of the African Descent Society British Columbia, said he began discussing the significance of Black history with the Education Ministry in 2016.Kiraga, who came to Canada as a refugee from Burundi in 2009, has visited schools to teach about the once-thriving Black community in Vancouver's Strathcona neighbourhood.
Will that history lesson include that blacks sold blacks even in the US?
Maybe drop history all together; have a class called “futures”.

As long as the news and Hollywood keep stereotyping the bad in every race because that's what's sells and makes money. Nothing will change. Plus comedian's make the most money off racism 95% of their act makes fun of it.

How about for Canada. We teach First Nations History, then Black History, Canadian History and stop teaching Canadian kids about American history. Makes sense to me.
Defund the public school system..
I went to school in Toronto & there were black, brown, white, & Chinese kids. We had no racism I knew of because kids only cared about one thing, having fun with other kids, regardless of race. Let's remember that before treating kids as some kind of proto-racists. THAT'S WRONG!
So when they need the lefts BLM to be in forefront... Media starts calling Blacks, Black...while the rest of time they will use African as a color then? The left wanting to push race against race in 2020.
Or better yet, just teach kids to treat others like they would wish to be treated. We are all human, let's start acting like it.
