In its final season, Netflix's flagship high school drama 13ReasonsWhy delves into psychological horror as its teen leads face guilt and paranoia in the wake of murder. Read the review here:

when it came to its irresponsible depictions of violence, but it truly outdoes itself this season with a group of fed-up middle-class suburban kidsEven worse, the very same entitled/enraged white boy who threw the Molotov cocktail eventually storms into a police station screeching that he has a gun, then a few minutes later ends up crying in the arms of a de-escalating police officer without getting tackled or shot. And just when you think the show couldn’t get stupider... it does.

Season 4 is thus a prolonged haunting, as ghosts from the past dog each of the guilt-ridden teens and viewers are, in turn, subjected to a bunch of teens banshee-screaming at each other about some grievance or another. Clay finally succumbs to's fetishization of mental health struggles, and we watch him battle panic attacks, paranoia, disassociation, hallucinations and fugue states that are all played as demonic, psychological horror.

While the walls begin to close in on the Scoobies, the show also explores activism, oppression, childhood sexual trauma, active shooter drills, sexual fluidity, substance abuse relapse and terminal illness, but the season still ends up less than the sum of its parts. Don't worry, though, they all still get into college, dance at prom and give hollow speeches at graduation!1) The writers' delusion that Clay Jensen is inherently good, despite his flaws.

honestly, I didn't like 13ReasonsWhy fourth and final season!

Big fan of 13ReasonsWhy but S02/S03/S04 so dumb. whole reputation of series just completely gone. If you haven't watched it yet just make up your mind with S01.

The show is unfairly maligned. It may have slightly fumbled the suicide narrative in its first season, but on abuse and especially consent it is excellent...

I wish...

Watching it right now

Fuck this show.
