New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees received a swift lesson in the shifting dialogue on race in the NFL since the killing of George Floyd, apologizing for remarks that took issue with players who have protested during the playing of the national anthem.
In a Wednesday interview published by Yahoo Finance, Brees was asked about the prospect of players kneeling during the anthem again when the NFL season starts—a movement Colin Kaepernick launched in 2016 to protest the specific issue of police brutality.
