SIBU: A site supervisor learned a bitter lesson when the Magistrate's Court here fined him RM5,000 in default two months' jail after he pleaded guilty to breaking his Covid-19 quarantine.

Magistrate Muhammad Faizal Che Saad passed the sentence Thursday based on public interest and the nature of the case.

He was supposed to observe a 14-day quarantine at home until May 30 after flying back from Kuala Lumpur where he was working. In doing so, he had violated the Observation and Surveillance of Contacts Order under Section 15 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
