University of Queensland student facing possible expulsion walks out of hearing

A University of Queensland student has "walked out" of a closed disciplinary hearing to decide whether he should be expelled, calling it a "kangaroo court."The University of Queensland has previously faced criticism over its ties to the Chinese GovernmentThe disciplinary board indicated it may make a decision in Mr Pavlou's absence

Mr Pavlou says he left the virtual hearing, saying the procedure didn't follow UQ's own rules for a disciplinary hearing. The university has previously argued Mr Pavlou broke the student charter multiple times, including allegations of bullying and disruption. He launched legal proceedings last year after the protests against an official at the Chinese Consulate over a statement he claims triggered graphic threats against him and his family.Mr Pavlou lodged the so-called "Peace and Good Behaviour Order" against the official in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, due to be mentioned on July 24.

They also described allegations of harassment and bullying, including some based on a Facebook post where it is alleged Mr Pavlou said, "I hate stupid BAFE [UQ Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics] c**** who went to a GPS school so are basically shocked by the prospect that politics could exist outside narrow band of thought that is What Dad Plus his Other Rich Mates Think About The...

Mr Pavlou said he had engaged in the actions put to him by the university but rejected the way the university had characterised them, and described the allegations as "spurious", "vexatious" and "petty" and said it was an attempt to disguise their intention to silence him for his outspokenness on UQ's relationship with the Chinese Government.

They also said they rejected Mr Pavlou's statement that the process was an attempt to penalise him for airing his political beliefs. The University of Queensland has faced criticism over its ties to the Chinese Government before, most recently by Victorian senator James Paterson, who spoke in Parliament about a leaked copy of the remuneration report for UQ vice chancellor Peter Hoj.

"He didn't harm anyone, he didn't damage property, and so it's astonishing the way they have really manufactured these infringements of a string of university policies and principles."Senior lecturer in Chinese studies at Monash University, Kevin Carrico, said he believed the proceedings by UQ were a sign of their problematic relationship with and dependence on China.

The UQ should be boycotted by Australian students next year change to another university and let them become sell out totally and become a CCP Chinese student campus only

All international students who has got residency in Australia must support Pavlou.

Why Australians have to face explulsion from universities just because of being anti Beijing. Aren’t we living in democratic country to protest on supporting Hongkong.

Pleased to see you corrected the spelling of 'whether' on the website.

Can't believe most comments are against UQ. The guy is a dickhead who should spend more time studying and less time being a nuisance.

Selfish boofhead using the students. This clown wants to ruin it for thousands off others. Don’t support him

'A further allegation accused Mr Pavlou of using a marker on some card inside a university shop and then only purchasing the card — behaviour the university classified as general misconduct.' Oh, well, he's absolute filth

You will not win . UQLD is on Chinese pay roll. Protest with our support to oust these money launderers. Low lives. Let’s pack them to Wuhan for Covid testingabcnewsqueenslanduniversity

Fascists

useless. go and help sell more barley.

Article says UQ faced scrutiny over its ties to China. So by looking at their current actions and behavior in this situation, it's clear UQ has China's cock rammed so far down their throat, they can't breathe. Their eyes are watering and the mascara is running. Pretty simple.

He sounds like a complete dropkick.

Leftards love cancel culture when freedom of expression threatens their cash cow. Much like TheirABC

I find it very odd that the University of Queensland wouldn’t support a student protesting against a regime that oppresses and harms the people of HK, considering we live in a democratic country and that’s what they were protesting for.

This is a travesty. WTF is wrong the UQ?! CCP stooge now?

Get the chancellor and vice-chancellor up on treason charges - case will be fixed VERY fast.
