The coronavirus death toll in England and Wales could be 15% higher than government data currently suggests, as new figures released on Tuesday by the Office for National Statistics include deaths that occur in the community, as well as in hospitals.... [+]Some 6,235 people in England and Wales died after contracting coronavirus, between December 28 2019 and April 3, according toThe new, more comprehensive figures count deaths that occurred in nursing homes, the community, and hospitals.

On Monday, executives from charities including Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK, Care England and Marie Curie,to boost testing and Personal Protective Equipment made available at nursing homes.
