Around 80 people have been asked to self-isolate after a University of Sydney student was diagnosed with coronavirus over the weekend.

The student was diagnosed on the weekend and is one of the previously announced cases, a statement from the university said.

"NSW Health and the University of Sydney have identified around 80 people who were close contacts with the student while on campus, who have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days," the university said. Six locations on the university's campus are being"intensively cleaned" on Sunday, according to NSW Health guidelines, the statement said."The current advice is that the rest of campus can continue to operate as normal," the university said.

Since the virus emerged, the university has been"closely monitoring the situation, liaising with other universities and taking advice from the federal government and NSW Health," the statement said. "Preventative measures undertaken on campus include increased frequency of cleaning; increased signage regarding hygiene practices and installation of hand sanitiser units across the college."

Now the Hillsong conference is over, they can do it saying the situation has changed.

Melbourne Latrobe University had a case last week . My daughter was sent home to self isolate as she was on the same class as the positive case

One student in UNSW was tested positive and guess what the students were told? “the student was not infectious on campus”. What a joke!

And it starts

And the ScottMorrisonMP feels it’s counterproductive to keep schools and universities open!! Screw the finances, you’re knowingly putting our children and those vulnerable in a dangerous position.

elliemail Was it one of those who were offered $7500 to thwart our rules and go to another hotspot not on our list for 14days before coming here. Good work Danny boy Tehan

coopesdetat

Close schools please!!!!!!!!

Can anyone confirm if this one of the 31000 that have since arrived back after a 14 day lay over elsewhere?

Who is enforcing/monitoring self isolation

This is the 5th school in NSW with an infected person and yet the government chooses to keep them open saying it has a positive side creating herd immunity. Their goal is clear.

Well, universities insisted their foreign students could return so they can make money - irresponsible

This should be ok. I mean, what else could they have done....?
