The coronavirus is raising a lot of questions for parents, from how to talk to children about it to weathering school closures to screen time strategies when you're home with little ones.

But, in recent weeks, our two worlds have collided, with parents and educators equally concerned about the spread of COVID-19.

As an experiment, maybe try making them wear scratchy mittens. Or do what I did and paint your child's face — so you can catch them red-handed, though this could also lead to unwanted faceprints on walls and windows.Keep it simple, age-appropriate and fact-based. For example, don't tell your child they won't get COVID-19; you don't know that. Instead, the CDC suggests telling children that, from what doctors have seen so far, most kids aren't getting very sick.

LifeKit What is the BEST video or website for explaining viruses and Covid to tweens and teens?

LifeKit Great tips! We make an app that allows children and grandparents to read books and play games in a video call, we are making it free to help families stay connected during this time

LifeKit You mean it’s kind of like the flu, and you use some of the same precautions, I thought by the mass hysteria we had to pay a visit to the undertaker once we got it .

LifeKit Families have been divided by all kinds of social and economic forces, and NOW we have THIS to tell us NOT to go visit granny and gramps. Wonderful. Divide and conquer. The good thing is, kids have to stay home with their parents because the schools are closed. YAY !!!

LifeKit Good Lord, NPR, get a grip!

LifeKit This advice brought to you by people that have never met kids...

LifeKit It’s every parent for themselves!!! Stop parent shaming about screen time!!! A sane parent over rules screen time any day of the week and twice on Sunday (when we do all the chores). Seriously. FFS enough w the screen time shame. We all watched TV until we were numb 🤷‍♀️

LifeKit This week, I’ve let my kids (14,12,10) decide if they wanted to go to school or not. Not because of fears of getting the virus (0 reported at this point in our county). But because of the anxiety it is causing. They’ve chosen most days to still go.

LifeKit Talking about it is easy. Just imagine it is like influenza (a.k.a the flu). Once the kids realize it is far closer to the flu than...say...Bubonic Plague...I'm sure they will be much calmer.

LifeKit Amazing how a controlled media can excite a pandemic 🤔
