“The university recently removed some 2,000 individuals who have been 'professional students' on three-year degrees for eight years or more without paying fees and routinely holding the institution to ransom through unrest for personal concessions.”

This was revealed in a statement on Thursday in response to an auditorium going up in flames at the institution's education campus the previous evening. Police are investigating a case of arson.

“Various departments and functions of the university are similarly under intense fiscal scrutiny and review for their fitness for purpose and performance, key among these being the student residences and transport,” the university added.

UKZN is not telling the truth.. They are finencially excluding students. I'm one of them. I never failed even 1 module. I'm working full time and studying full-time but ngyaphasa. Today ngyaxoshwa. Ppl must apply audi alteram partem before they comment.

They want to keep reaping the benefits of the university they must fall....

Typical gimme gimmes. They should be put to hard labour rebuilding the damage done and not be given another cent. The sense of entitlement from these people is unbelievable.

I know those ppl who like to say 'when I was at Fort Hare we use to...' 'when I was at UKZN...' yet they never graduated..
