Katoomba High School will be closed on Friday after a member of the school community tested positive for coronavirus.
The school did not specify if the person who tested positive for COVID-19 was a student or staff member, only saying that it was a "member of the school community". "Staff and students will be contacted and advised if they can resume school as normal on Monday, 16 March 2020 or if a further quarantine period will be required."
NSW Health said that, as of 1pm on Thursday, there were 78 confirmed coronavirus cases in NSW. Closing schools over single cases is not the best way unless the School can teach via remote means. This could be a habit that all countries could regret if it becomes too common place.
