Education Secretary Leonor Briones and other officials and personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) are currently on home quarantine as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The DepEd said that it has received an advice that one of the participants in two meetings attended by several of its officials and personnel, held on February 28 and March 5, had tested positive for COVID-19.

DepEd said that none of its officials and personnel “has exhibited symptoms of respiratory illness or diarrhea.” However, consistent with Department of Health protocols, DepEd said that the concerned personnel and officials have “undertaken the necessary precautions” – including home quarantine.
