Tesla billionaire Elon Musk thinks people “don’t need college to learn stuff” and says jobs at his companies should not require a degree.At the Satellite 2020 conference in Washington DC on Monday, an audience member told Musk she noticed that many job postings at his company SpaceX require a bachelor’s degree and say a master’s degree is preferred – despite Musk having been vocal about not requiring a college degree for jobs at his companies.
To be quite honest, we don’t need to send so many young people to university. Too many graduates, never enough jobs for them all.

I went to university, had lots of fun - got a shit degree. Went back again soon after, learnt loads and got a great degree - which basically changed my whole life. Plus why am I even bothered by anything Elon Musk says? 💩

College, as it's practised in North America, is mainly a vehicle for social and financial continuity / advancement. Calling it 'educational' is accurate if 'education' is to mean navigating, by competing with others, how to best regurgitate what your professor tells you.

If you want to learn, read a book. College is a rat race that you have to find a way out of. Learning is an enjoyable endeavor that you can do after you get out of college.

I learned 20 years of employment on the job, after a 5 years stint on an unfinished Law Degree, study I am still researching at 55, but more effectively in reality that teaches lessons, that cost $100's of thousands from Lawyers, without criminal intending, only neurotic reading.
It is possible to have fun and learn at the same time.
