A Sydney high school student has used a speech at the United Nations to criticise Australia's detention of two sick Tamil refugees currently being held in a Melbourne detention centre.

The 17-year-old told the Council about Sivaguru Navanthirasa and Loganathan Janurupan, who according to the Tamil Refugee Council, are currently being held at the Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation. Mr Navanthirasa lives with leukemia and Mr Janurupan has developed psycological fatigue, Renuga told the UN HRC."The continued detention of individuals who have been subject to persecution during the Sri Lankan genocidal war against Tamils and [who] clearly intend to seek refugee and protection in Australia shares no spirit of brotherhood," Renuga said.

Can anyone else see that the UN is simply using youth as puppets to saturate society with bias, manipulation and misinfornation. Australia must sever ties with, and abandon funding for, such bodies!

They can leave anytime

Well done girl. But would happier seeing you talking about the foundation of the issue. Australia’s detention policy and people taken hostage in Manus and Nauru

bsadams25 Rightly so good on her the world needs to know LNP Gov of Australia has two Australian born children in detention. One5 one 3 with their parents disgraceful

Bits of light in the darkness , Australia is now a big part of this darkness . Australia Seeks to warm the world , support the rich , deny the poor , tax those least able to pay . So sad . My grandchildren don’t understand current liberal + Labor , extinction evasion push

So young Lady, the country that took your family in and gave them refuge from a civil war in your home country are fair game for criticism. Well young lady, you’re just an ungrateful little Cow. If you don’t like Australia you’re quite welcome to leave.

Because children are immune from criticism.

Well done this girl 👏👏👏

A brave girl!

Isn't it great that foreigners get their name in the paper for telling Australians who we should let into our own country? Just wonderful. Now close the borders.

Oh and Gillian is with her too. I’m assuming she’s not biased by being of the same ethnicity as the people in detention. Would she care if they were Baptist Eskimos?

Sydney schools sitting on up to $5000 in unspent money per studentOne Blacktown primary school had almost $5000 per student left over at the end of one year, while an inner west high school left $3500 per student unspent. Now which schools might those be? The private schools with their own baristas, or selective schools with a minute percentage of students from Australian backgrounds, or the schools whose kids keep cool in 40 degree heat by sitting with their bare feet in tote trays full of water?
