Elaine Velasco, a Filipina teacher in Thailand, recounted Sunday her ordeal inside a mall in Thailand where a local soldier went on a rampage starting Saturday afternoon, leaving at least 20 people de

ad. The gunman, identified as Sergeant-Major Jakrapanth Thomma, was later killed by authorities on Sunday morning.

She and her companion were waiting for a ride outside the mall to go to a Filipino convention when they heard the first shot at around 5:20 p.m. Saturday. "Pumasok po kami, kasi akala namin hindi papasok yung suspek sa loob ng mall. Akala po namin mag-end na yung barilan sa labas lang." Watch more in iWant or TFC.tv Velasco said she sought help from a Facebook group of Filipinos in Thailand, who then asked for her number and connected her to the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok."Ang advise ng police is stay lang daw sa area at saka wag magpost ng anything sa social media ng anything about sa location, kasi active daw sa social media yung gunman.
