Five years ago, Chuck Lewis bought a number of solar-powered flashing lights and said he would give them to the city free of charge. He also said we would maintain them for a minimum of 10 years. Klein put a motion forward several months ago for the lights, but said the committee delayed it further.According to Klein, traffic calming is a major issue at city hall and these lights would help with that.
Place speeding cameras in schools zones and ppl will quickly follow the speed.
I can’t believe a normal citizen of the community cares more for kids safety then the actual government. That’s sad. And it’s free of charge. What the heck r they thinking. This is a no brainer people. Wake up!!
Ppl will still speed...flashing light or not...maybe there should be more police present at school zones...ppl follow the rules when theres a cop around...

If The City of Wpg takes this down, they are petty & pathetic.
It is good that this man is being proactive in solving a problem, unlike the brain-dead syncophants on city council.
They couldnt find the time and manpower to put it up but who wants to bet they find it to take it down. bureaucracy
Or just don’t have kids !
Unreal how backwards cityofwinnipeg is on this topic ... 5 years of debating improvement of school zone safety at zero cost. Mayor_Bowman what's the holdup?
Awesome. But we all know. If it was truly about safety. The City would put that up. But it’s a cash cow. Like photo radar. But great effort he deserves major credit for helping area out .
I have actually said that flashing yellow lights throughout the zones during the times school / playgrounds are in effect would be a great idea. Helps remind drivers to slow down.
