Education Secretary Leonor Briones issued a memo “highly discouraging” activities at the division or district level that would involve the gathering of participants from various schools.

Among the activities postponed were the National School’s Press Conference in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; National Festival of Talents in Ilagan, Isabela; National Science and Technology Fair; and regional athletic meets such as the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The Education department also ordered the suspension of field trips, film showings and other off-campus activities. “Official travels of all DepEd personnel and learners previously approved by the Secretary for the month of February 2020 to countries identified to have confirmed cases or persons under investigation for 2019-nCoV are revoked,” the memorandum read.
