Like students in a high school history class, 100 US senators, confined to their desks for another long day of the impeachment trial of Donald Trump, squirmed, stretched and slumped in their seats as the minutes ticked down until the next break. They passed notes back and forth, doodled on legal pads, stifled yawns and laughter, and at least one member twirled a fidget spinner – a gift from the North Carolina senator Richard Burr to his antsy colleagues.
Everybody should go use the bathroom before the session starts... there are NO BATHROOM BREAKS...
One must not underestimate the Republican Senators desire to protect their career as a politician, and to protect the Republican Party, as it stands, from imploding. Ranked Choice would basically be the nail in the coffin for the Republican Party as it stands.
They can thank McConnell for the grueling schedule and trial rules. He wants everybody to be miserable.
As a retired high school teacher for 30+ years, my students would not act the way these “adults” are acting. Unconscionable .
