The school’s Headboy, Deputy Headboy and SEC members along with seven staff members were also present on the camp along with the Headmaster, Malcolm Williams and a Senior Child Development and Protection Consultant, Luke Lamprecht.

The Parktown Boys’ High School Grade 8 Orientation Camp took place at Nyathi Bush and River Break in the North West Province. The Grade 8 group arrived at camp on Wednesday the 15th of January. The camp is aimed at introducing new Parktonians to each other and creating an environment which focuses on team work and the achieving of common goals through various activities offered at the camp.

Late on Thursday morning, it became apparent that a boy had gone missing from the camp. Internal emergency procedures were immediately instituted by camp management, staff and members of the community. The Headmaster contacted the father to alert him to staff concerns. By this time the SAPS Emergency Services had already been called, including the Search and Rescue unit who at the point assumed control of the search.

maybe its bulling

Arrest them all SAPoliceService

All that comes from stating who was present and their titles is that senior members if staff were as negligent as all others. Why state the day and time of day someone took note of the boy's absence without stating the day the water event took place?

Evasive & lacking in specific detail.

There’s more to this than the school is telling us. If it was a group activity, then where were the other group members when the tragic event happened? Something seriously went wrong and it’s been covered...

I don't support school camp on the first day at high school esp 1st term coz nobody knows anyone 2nd term yes they can go at least kids and the teachers dey know each other a little bit they can go to strengthen the friendship and teach them about team work and other things .

So all of them never notice that the boy was missing shem on them. That's why i don't like Parktown Boys anymore it has lost it's value.

They are saying nothing, such disrespect!

Took them long enough to realise that he was missing

Where's is the other school's report regarding the grade 7, that had drowned on Wednesday already and it was only being made public late last night where it occurred at the school hostel in magaliesburg 😱😡😡😡😡, where was the house masters and manager's

I hope these people tell this child’s parents what exactly happened to their son. This is unacceptable. Safety person, did the children wear a safety kit? Who was with the child on the raft that capsized? TiyaniBaadjie

The order they list this in is a big part of the problem schools rely on matrics to run these things and have control. They are either still children or just turned 18. It is unacceptable to put that responsibility on them.

How did they only notice that l8,if they were looking after the kids.pure negligence

There are details missing.

Basically all of them are useless if they're not the one's behind the kid's death

In this statement there is no mention of life jackets or head counts

So all those ppl were there but nobody thought of doing a headcount

Look at the initiation treatment of new students at the former white and model C schools, most tragedies happen because of that nonsense

So basically this could have been prevented? 🤔

No clarity around safety precautions in place at Parktown Boys' high school campIt was not immediately clear whether Enoch Mpianza and other Grade 8 learners from Parktown Boys High who partook in a river-rafting exercise that claimed his life were wearing life jackets at the time. That is why we're saying what happened at ParktownBoysCamp was ultimate result of gross negligence. Arrest the principal and the coordinator first, the rest shall follow. READ IN FULL | School statement on death of Parktown Boys' High pupilParktown Boys' High School issued a statement on Friday evening about the death of a grade 8 pupil during a school orientation camp. Someone definitely knows what happened here. There’s no way not even one person saw this boy or what happened to him. They were there as a group. My concern is with the venue that hosted the team building. Were the boys not wearing life jackets? Some of these places don’t have adequate safety equipment and they don’t say no to money. The continue to host even if they don’t have the capacity. Must be investigated. you spelt the deceased’s name wrong in the article. Real quality from South Africa’s fastest declining news paper.
