With the Philippines having a high rate of students being bullied, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian on Saturday called on the Department of Education to enforce anti-bullying measures in schools. | KHallareINQ

“We need to see the whole picture as to why our students were ranked the lowest in the Pisa survey,” Gatchalian, chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture, said in a statement in Filipino.

“If we look at the study, it shows that bullying was one of the reasons as to why our students ranked the lowest,” he added. Gatchalian then pointed out the importance of values education, adding that there should be “emphasis on how witnesses to bullying situations can effectively intervene.” “It’s important to teach to school officials it’s their duty to provide safety,” he added. “Not only the students and teachers but also the parents and the members of the community should participate too.”

khallareINQ Bullying is part of Duterte's gov't. What gives?

khallareINQ Yung mukha ni Gatchalian actually kamukha niya yung mga bully sa West Phl Sea!

khallareINQ I agree to have a heightened awareness with schools working with parents

khallareINQ unahin muna un bully sa malacanan

khallareINQ This is already enforced in private schools

khallareINQ And the “ Father “ of the nation right now is the biggest bully

khallareINQ A bully himself 🙄

khallareINQ Bullies and bullied students are both victims. Please have programs for both.

khallareINQ Pero si stgatchalian ay isang number one bully. The irony. I hope you become an example to those kids, Senatong.

khallareINQ The prepping starts at home

khallareINQ Gagawa ng department of anti bully?

khallareINQ But they see bullying at the top echelons of government and it's applauded by 16m followers.

khallareINQ Teachers are not psychologists, the senate and deped need to enforce having d right skillset in schools to address the problem both ways. Each child has a chance to be heard & taken cared of bullied and bully alike. We need to address the problem down to its gut! WinGatchalian74

khallareINQ paano pag Yung anak ng mayor ang bully? or senator? malamang wala namang effect un

khallareINQ If the higher penalties are implemented and more parents are warned, it will have greater impact. There should be an equivalent financial penalty. That amount can be used for the psychological treatment of the children bullied. Hire more phschologists in schools for students.

khallareINQ stgatchalian gumana na naman ung kawalan mo ng silbi at pakinabang. Ulol!

khallareINQ Gago! Ay sori... sori naalala ko lang bigla yung twitter meltdown mo dati 😂

khallareINQ In some way, parents must also be accountable if their children are bullies. They only do as they see.

khallareINQ Paano kaya yun Bully sa twitter?
