Christmas came early to students of Cabadiangan Integrated School in Cebu Province as they received school supplies that they can use in school, and food that they can share with their families this holiday season.

In line with its efforts to recognize the importance of education in Filipino families, leading online money transfer service WorldRemit celebrated its one-year anniversary in the Philippines with an early Christmas celebration with the students and teachers of the school beneficiary.

WorldRemit noted that education was one of the key drivers of increased digital remittances across the globe. Citing new research from the money transfer service, it revealed that the $689 billion in remittances that migrants send back home every year helps more than 3.5 million children around the world to go to school.

During the corporate social responsibility event, WorldRemit employees – along with team members from the London headquarters – also helped in the distribution of school supplies and food to the students of Cabadiangan IS. Lim noted that this CSR activity is “just one of the many steps we have in the pipeline as we strengthen our presence in the Philippines and reflect our commitment to connect people and places to improve the quality of life around the world.”
