PETALING JAYA: MCA has raised questions over the timing of the Finance Ministry's decision to channel a RM40mil allocation for Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) to an alumni association.

noted that Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng announced the allocation in November, right after the ruling coalition's defeat at the Tanjung Piai by-election.

Ti added that TAR UC was set up to address the demands of the Chinese community for tertiary education, as some were not able to enter public universities due to the quota system. "For many years, TAR UC has operated in a professional and transparent manner, and nurtured over 200,000 graduates.
