Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi taught the world, and especially women, a lesson about leadership when a reporter asked her: 'Do you hate the President?'

... [+]Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi taught the world, and especially women, a powerful lesson recently when a reporter foolishly asked her, “Do you hate the President?” Pelosi was on her way out of a press conference announcing that she had directed her House colleagues to draft articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

Her questioner, who is probably still smarting from the episode, defended himself by quoting Republican congressman Doug Collins, a shameless Trump defender from Georgia, who had said that the Democrats were pursuing impeachment simply because “they don’t like the guy.” In reply, Pelosi swatted the reporter away: “I don’t have anything to do with that.”

In this brief but explosive exchange, Pelosi made it clear that she was not motivated by feminine irrationality, as is often alleged of women critical of men, but rather by her principled commitment to the Constitution and to the rule of law. Her stance was determined entirely by her defense of institutions—the church in which she was raised and in which she has continued to worship, and the country in which she believes and that she has long served so ably and devotedly.
